d23 Design Challenge

In celebration of the Haunted Mansion’s 50th anniversary, D23 welcomed artists to submit interpretations of the Haunted Mansion to the D23 Design Challenge.

Inspired by the portrait hall at the beginning of the Mansion tour, I pulled together some of the most iconic portraits and characters to create a new portrait hall that pays tribute not only to the Haunted Mansion in Disney World, Disneyland, and Tokyo Disney, but also to Phantom Manor and Mystic Manor. Appearing in this portrait hall are some of the best known figures, not as they appeared in their "corrupted, mortal state", but rather in death. You'll find characters such as the Bride, the hitchhiking ghosts, the Hatbox Ghost, and even a little nod to Albert from Mystic Manor. Skeletons reach and peek from behind portraits in a nod to Phantom Manor, and each portrait has an interpretation of various wallpapers seen throughout all of the mansions.
